I took the Introductory Visual Editor class hoping to obtain a more structured introduction to the Visual Editor than was proving possible to achieve on my own. The course provided a thorough introduction to the use of the editor, its features and touched upon more advanced functions. Although having only a basic knowledge of MCNP, by the middle of the course I was in a position to make geometries with some confidence, define sources and run complete MCNP problems. In addition to solid, structured instruction with respect to the Visual Editor, the course also provided extremely useful information regarding MCNP in general, especially with respect to the interpretation of output files. The visualization capabilities of the editor were also covered in sufficient detail. The course was well delivered with appropriate examples and proceeded at a pace ensuring efficient coverage of the material with appropriate time for questions and individual help. The take home materials were extensive, well explained and facilitate performing any of the exercises at a later time. Having been on a range of software courses in the past, I would have no hesitation in recommending the Introductory Visual Editor course to those who are looking for a good grounding in the use of the editor for MCNP problems for any filed of application.
