ALARA tool for a cask (1996).
This figure shows an additional ALARA tool that was created for the transportation of radioactive materials. For this application, a set of four standard shipping configurations were designed and completely analyzed with MCNP. For each of these configurations, the neutron and gamma dose rate was calculated for different intensities of the source term. The ALARA engineer could then choose the configuration and source intensity and then insert the people at the desired locations to calculate the dose rates.
