 Workshop Description

This workshop will teach the participant how to use PENELOPE. 

 

PENELOPE is an acronym for "Penetration and ENErgy LOss of Positrons and Electrons"

 

PENELOPE is a general-purpose Monte Carlo simulation code system with

• Realistic, well defined interaction models

• Fast and accurate random sampling algorithms

• Efficient tools for tracking particles through complex geometries (constructive quadric geometry)

• Complementary tools: variance reduction, transport in electromagnetic fields, tabulation of macroscopic interaction parameters, ...

PenGUIn is a graphical user interface for Penelope.  For more information about PenGUIn, click here.

 

The class will be taught by, Francesc Salvat, the principal author of the code and Randy Schwarz.

 

 

Topics included are:

• Geometry creation

• Interface to Penelope subroutines

• Running a simulation

• Evaluating results

• Graphical display of results

Cancellation Policy

Payment will be refunded for cancellations received by the "Last Date to Cancel for a Refund" date, two weeks in advance of the start date of the workshop. Cancellations received after that date will be rescheduled to the next available class but payment will not be refunded. Substitutions of a different employee from the same company are permitted with prior approval.
